The Literary Engineer

A Literary Engineer is the best hat that I have been able to cobble together for myself. It suits me better than Jacqueline of All Trades, mostly because I’m just not a Jacqueline (I imagine all people with this name to be beautiful with smoky voices like old speakeasy jazz singers). It also speaks to my experiences. I have an English Literature BA and a BS in Biomedical Engineering. Currently I work full time as a Clinical Engineer while dreaming of the day I can be a cranky writer full time.

I started the blog when I was in a rough period of transition. I was getting a divorce, publicly coming out as a lesbian and in a real fit of depression that I didn’t see a real way out of. I’d had the space for years but didn’t truly use it till I was moving and had to document the situation with my old apartment complex. I used this space as a sounding board and I have wrapped up three of the most complex, dark chapters of my life so far.

Now I’m moving on and so is the blog. I want very badly to make my living as a writer professionally. I’m aware that the best way to do this is to write, write, write and expose that writing to the world. I’m also aware that sometimes you just need to write something you don’t quite care about (I’m looking at you SEO work). To that end, on top of the musings I usually post, I’m going to talk a lot more about writing and post some fiction as well. I look forward to sharing these next chapters of my life with everyone, there’s a lot of places to go from here.
